Hello! Another week at Wallpaper Acres is in the books! John has been hard at work this week with all things paint.

(I also am writing this one-handed as I fractured my left wrist playing soccer...A few people have asked if this is how I am getting out of reno work...)

This has been a big week in the world of purchases! Remember when the kitchen light box attacked John and he got stitches and broke the stove in the process? Well on Wednesday night I was scrolling on Facebook and the local Habitat had a brand new induction range and stove for sale at 86% off. John was there when the doors opened on Thursday morning and we are excited for this deal!

We also put down 50% on our upstairs carpet so that process is in motion! The upstairs will be updated with carpet and ceiling fans (once we move in furniture, of course)!

Anyhow, the theme of this week was yet again paint! We have bought a lot of paint recently and when deciding where to buy paint, we went with Sherwin Williams. There is a store right by the house and we know that they will be able to match our paint choices in the future. We did not have much luck using the paint counters at Home Depot or Lowes when trying to match colors in the past so we decided to use the professionals and have not been upset! The paint coverage is great and the quality just seems to be better.

Throughout the week, John was able to finish the upstairs hallway and staircase. He also reinstalled the subfloor that was ripped up last week and it looks good as new! I absolutely love the master bedroom and cannot wait for the carpet to be installed.

This weekend, we turned our focus to the two formal rooms downstairs. John prepped the spaces and we were ready to get rocking and rolling on those two rooms. We did run into a small issue that was upsetting but we persevered through...the front downstairs windows and pocket doors were painted with oil-based paint originally. We had bought the correct primer for this but even that was not sticking to it...the primer was literally beading off the surface and we were very confused. When we returned on Sunday, we decided to rough up the surfaces with 80-grit sandpaper and reapply the primer and that seemed to do the trick. We were able to get the the trim and ceilings in these two rooms painted and will prep for the wall color this week.

See you next week for more paint-related updates!
