Another week of working on Wallpaper Acres is in the books.
John has been hard at work this week working on the drywall repair and is making a lot of headway. We have learned that drywall repair is not hard but it just takes time. And the good news is, if you make a mistake...you just sand it down and try again! This will be a handy skill to have moving forward.
This week had some new themes along with some old. We received our paint samples in the mail and narrowed down the color scheme we want to use. I am pretty happy with our choices and think that it is going to lend to John and I's style nicely. It will also be nice to have something other than wallpaper on the walls. See below for our colors.

We also were able to go to the carpet store and speak with a carpet professional. We felt a lot of carpet samples and found one that we like and now we just have to make the color decision. And the best part about the carpet...we over-budgeted so that will be nice to add some money back to the bank account! (It will also help with the downstairs bath project).

We started the week with only 2 walls of wallpaper to remove and then the mosaic-like wallpaper to remove in the hall bath upstairs. The half bath had the same wallpaper that was in the living room that was not paneled but instead layered on like paper mache. The good news with this...we have seen it before and knew how to attack it and remove it in haste. We got to work on that and boy did we have some fun...the attempt at drywall repair by the previous owners was under the philosophy of "give it the ole college try." Also, there were plenty of wall anchors that needed patching as well. John probably spent a majority of his time on Saturday doing the drywall repairs in there and it is not even a big room! While John was working in the hall bath, I was working in Italy. For those who have forgotten, please see below.

I started tackling this mural and guess what...we unearthed another mural under this one! Yep, you heard right...deja vu! Just like the previous week, under one layer of wallpaper lies another masterpiece waiting to be uncovered... I will say that it was a little frustrating! You know what I love doing? Double the work...and here we are for the second weekend in a row removing 2 layers of murals off of one wall. Talk about efficiency! Take a look at the beauty that we uncovered!.

I mean, just a straight up masterpiece! I did discover that this was applied directly to the drywall so it is not coming off easily. This room has been a true test of patience. The good news...John is good at drywall repair now so he will get to use his new learned skills on this room next!
On Sunday, John was able to take down the newly discovered Tuscany mural while I still worked away on the Italy-Cinderella mural. Low and behold....this mural has been the worst section of wallpaper to remove and I spent 12 hours on this one wall...what fun! As we wrapped up our weekend at Wallpaper Acres, we can finally yell from the rooftops that there is no more wallpaper left! This process went a lot quicker than we anticipated and we are excited to shift our focus on to paint.

I have no words! 😳🤦🏻♀️ There’s a part of me that is happy that I moved away before Wallpaper Acres was purchased! I’m sure I’d be right next to you if I still lived there. Part of me is sad that I’m missing the initial reactions when you uncover these treasures, and let of me is just jealous of your fun adventure! Keep the posts coming. I hope you have saved a scrap of each wallpaper you’ve removed. It would be fun to out a collage together, frame it and hang it up to always remind you of how far you‘ve come! ♥️♥️♥️
